Shopping, travel, sport, events: what coronavirus means for consumers | World news | The Guardian

But Adam French, a consumer rights expert at Which?, added: "Unfortunately, it will be harder to get a refund on any travel or accommodation booked for the match, unless these were purchased as part of a package deal."

Also bear in mind that if you have purchased a ticket through a resale website, refunds will depend on the site's (typically restrictive) terms and conditions.

This is a tricky area and you may be fighting your case with large numbers of other people, but as a last resort you could turn to your credit or debit card provider to seek a section 75 claim or chargeback.

Shopping malls, business cards, pay phones and more things headed for extinction

When’s the last time you popped in a cassette tape? Rented a movie at a video store? Wrote a check for groceries?

Maybe you still do some — or all — of these things. But chances are good you’ve replaced many of what used to be common, everyday activities with more technologically updated trends.

It can be tough to believe that many of the things we once considered essential could one day disappear. Laura Ingalls Wilder couldn’t foresee the end of the covered wagon era back when she was crossing the prairie in one, either.

Boston's First Recreational Marijuana Shop Opens

BOSTON (AP) — The first recreational marijuana shop opened Monday in Boston, where owners are bracing for large crowds.

Pure Oasis owners Kobie Evans and Kevin Hart say they're preparing for up to 1,000 customers a day in the initial days to visit the store, which is also the first pot shop owned and operated by black entrepreneurs.

"It's bittersweet. It's a great feeling to be first, but we know that also comes with a level of responsibility," Hart told The Associated Press last month after state regulators awarded the shop a final license. "It's our responsibility to take this win we got today and make sure people of color realize they have the same opportunities."
