Fashion can’t afford to wait for customers to demand sustainability | Vogue Business

The Vogue Business Index shows that brand loyalty often trumps brand values in determining whether or not consumers believe a brand to be sustainable.

Brand affinity has a halo effect: how much someone likes a brand positively correlates with how sustainable they believe the brand to be, no matter how sustainable the brand actually is, the Vogue Business Index shows.

The survey of luxury consumers showed that brands ranking highest in the metrics for consumer sentiment , including Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Chanel, were also among the top-rated for their environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) measures — despite sharing few details of their efforts in these categories. The research, done in November 2019 through January 2020, also analysed factors like corporate governance, board effectiveness and culture.

Letter to the editor: Giant Eagle shows care for customers | TribLIVE.com

I was in Giant Eagle the other day and a man was asked to leave the store if he would not wear a mask. Despite his protests of a medical condition as his reason to not wear one, the store insisted and he begrudgingly put on a mask. I applaud Giant Eagle for adhering to the mandate requiring all customers to wear a mask. It shows that Giant Eagle is concerned about the health of its customers.

Then I went to Walmart. Despite signs posted outside each entrance stating that customers must wear masks due to the state mandate, there were several customers in the store not wearing a mask. When I asked management why this was not being enforced, I was told they will not force customers to wear masks.
