The era of consumer data privacy is upon us. With companies like Google and Apple putting more stringent rules around data privacy, at a time when consumer visibility has never been more important, many companies are facing significant challenges ahead. With the demise of third party data, brands will need to work harder than ever to be more transparent with consumers, adopt data privacy-centric approaches and also explore new alternative datasets to sharpen customer understanding.
With all this in mind, I wanted to speak to one of the smartest people I know in the field of analytics about the current landscape and best practices for turning today's challenges into opportunities. I recently sat down with Kurt Kendall, Chief Analytics Officer at Publishers Clearing House who has years of experience sitting at the nexus of consumer understanding, technology and science, at leading companies such as GSK, Under Armour and McKinsey. Are Tennessee Titans doing enough in the analytics department?
As teams in the NFL — and professional sports in general — continue to use analytics more and more in decision-making, it appears the Tennessee Titans might be lagging behind this trend.
According to ESPN analytics writer, Seth Walder , the Titans are the only team in the NFL to not have someone on staff whose specific job title it is to work in analytics. This is the second-straight year in which the Titans have earned this distinction .
Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky points out that the Titans have coaches and scouts help out in this area, and it’s also possible that the team outsources the responsibility and we just don’t know it yet.

It’s been a big week at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. On Tuesday (May 11), the Ross School announced the appointment of an interim replacement for its popular outgoing dean. Then on Thursday (May 13), Michigan announced the launch of a whole new program.
