This year, more than 9,000 retailers went belly-up or closed stores, according to a tally by Business Insider. Payless Shoes, Dress Barn, Barney’s, Gymboree, Sears, Kmart, Charlotte Russe, Chico’s, Gap, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Office Depot were among the long list of legacy retailers that succumbed in the so-called Great Retail Apocalypse of 2019.

More Virginia shopping centers may allow open carry of alcohol

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. (WVIR) - A proposed bill could soon allow more folks to openly carry a cold one while walking around shopping centers Virginia.
Under current law, a shopping center can only apply for this license if it has at least 100,000 square feet of retail, other mixed use development and sit on at least 25 acres.
State Senator Barbara Favola (D) submitted a bill that would lower the requirement to 10 acres. If passed, this new law would primarily affect smaller shopping centers, including Hollymead ,should developers choose to apply for licensing.
Power restored at Frandor Shopping Center | WLNS 6 News
LANSING, MICH. (WLNS) — The lights are now back on in several stores at the Frandor Shopping Center in Lansing.
Earlier on Sunday, a few of the stores including Party City, T.J. Maxx and Taco Bell all lost power.

Woman reportedly shopping for mattresses falls asleep on store display overnight

A woman in Missouri who was reportedly mattress shopping apparently wanted to sleep on the idea, but she had a rude awakening when she realized she slept through the night on a store display.
Officers were dispatched to a Richmond Heights, Missouri store around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported .

CARMICHAEL (CBS13) — Deputies are investigating after a body was found near a shopping center in Carmichael.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said the body was found “with suspicious circumstances” just before 3 p.m. near Manzanita and Madison avenues.

According to a new survey investigating the 2020 shopping habits of more than 16,000 consumers from mobile rewards app Shopkick, physical interactions with products will still play a major role in purchasing decisions this year.
