Southside Elementary School was the first elementary school in the area to host Kids Marketplace. On Feb. 26, Mandi Dolan of 4-H Youth Development, led fourth graders in this economical experience. Kids Marketplace is a financial simulation that introduces elementary-aged students to the concept of managing their money. Stations are set up throughout the room that represent common expenses: groceries, transportation, housing, etc.

How three mushers afford the Iditarod year after year - Marketplace
The 48th annual Iditarod race begins Saturday morning in Anchorage, Alaska. The "Last Great Race on Earth" is a roughly 1,000-mile sled dog race — and it isn't cheap for organizers or participants.
"It’s incredibly expensive," said Blair Braverman, who ran her first Iditarod last year. "I think most estimates for running the Iditarod are that it costs between $50,000 and $100,000 for that year."
Braverman works as a freelance writer in addition to running her dogsled team with her husband, Quince Mountain, in Wisconsin. Mountain is running his rookie Iditarod this year, which has a $4,000 entry fee .
Tops Marketplace in Southington coming back after fire
“Sometimes we close our eyes and think it’s not real,” said Betsy Tooker, co-owner of Tops Marketplace.
Last March, almost exactly one year ago, a Southington staple burned to the ground . It was a large fire that could be seen for miles.
The family-owned grocery store had been part of the community since 1951 — often supporting many causes in town and getting very involved in civic affairs. That’s why the fire was such a shock — such a loss.

Hotels are using brands to blanket the marketplace - Chicago Tribune
Hilton and Choice Hotels International are testing that question, with two new ones focused on helping travelers maintain their healthy eating, sleeping and fitness habits on the road.
Hilton's Tempo will be the company's 18th nameplate, and Everhome Suites will be Choice Hotels' 12th.
They aren't the only lodging companies to take the more-is-better approach. Marriott manages 30 brands; Hyatt has 14. Despite the crowded marketplace, hotel companies believe there is an opportunity and even an imperative to present an array of options.
Plan unveiled for hotels, apartments at Oro Valley Marketplace | Business | tucsonlocalmedia.com
Town West, the new owners of the Oro Valley Marketplace, believe they have a winning plan for the shopping center.
The marketplace—located at 12155 N. Oracle Road—will be rebranded into the "Oro Valley Village Center" and will focus its efforts on new apartments and hotels built on empty sites. In order to do that, the town council would have to approve an amendment to the Rancho Vistoso Planned Area Development.
Town West argues in the Feb. 14 proposal that the marketplace will not succeed in its current state.
