Monadnock Ledger-Transcript - Main Street staple Dick Putnam retires

Dick Putnam has owned the Main Street staple since 1977 – but he, and the store, have been fixtures on the street much, much longer than that.

"I like to say I've spent pretty much 73 of my 75 years on the premises," Putnam joked. "My parents used to curl me up between the pants for my nap."

Eventually, the business was taken over in the 1950s by Dick's father, Lawrence Putnam, and in 1977, Lawrence passed it on to his son.
